An absolute game of two halfs!
Very rarely do two teams absolutely dominate the same game. In today’s November 4 Goal Invitational Final Buckleigh Farms and Indigo Inn battled it out in a thrilling game that sadly had to have only one winner.
Buckleigh Farms started the game in absolute control of the tempo and surged into a half-time lead of 7-2, playing a very patient controlled strategy before feeding the ball out to Matt McGhee who finished off three excellent runs of 200 yards or more. Peter Bibeau’s, Buckleigh Farms, were in complete control at the half as Gaston Rodrigues and Jose Rodriguez showed great communication and team work to keep Indigo Inn at bay while providing the offensive punch to build their substantial lead.
The second half was a completely different story however as from the first bowl in of the half Indigo Inn’s Brien Limehouse jumped on the ball to carry it down field to score. With Jeff Shuler playing a fantastic game in his first tournament and Will Tankard Captaining the team, the following three bowl in’s were like replay’s as Brien and Barry Limehouse won all of them to carry the ball down to the middle of the goal as team mates helped to score. By the end of the third period Indigo Inn had gained the lead and were winning by the score of 8-7. The Last period was wide open as both teams pushed hard for the win and it was Indigo Inn who were the eventual winners of a thrilling and exciting final tournament game at Whitney Field for a very successful 2012 season by the final score of 10-9.
MVP was awarded to Brien Limehouse, and his mare “Mamba” was BPP, for the stunning third period in which Brien scored 3 goals and set up 2 of his teams six for that period.
The only shame in today’s game was that only one team could win as both teams contributed to a thrilling match that was one of the most exciting games played on Whitney Field this year.
